For that reason, I didn't like MGS4 and to an extent, MGS2.
It's like Kojima let the younger guys handle it and they wanted to go the overly dramatic anime route. It's no different than how the young COD devs over-pack their games with slow-motion explosion scenes and Rambo missions. For COD, it's acceptable because it was always meant for multiplayer and was never truly story oriented like MGS was.
MGS 5: Ground Zero looks like it'll go back to form. Solid storytelling. Solid characters. Solid dialogue.
