Default Re: The Christian Ponder thread

Week 1: 20/27, 270 yards, 0 TD, 0 INT

What a game from the guy. Started off slow but never lost his confidence that was evident from the start. AD was looking good so they pounded him at the goal line like they should and he was effective after Ponder led them deep into the red zone.

Looked comfortable in the pocket and extended plays like he's known for when he needed to. Harvin was Harvin, exploding after short catches and racking up the YAC. Rudolph appears to have emerged as his #2 target. Credit to Jenkins for having a solid game and Aromashodu for making catches in a couple of clutch situations.

With 1:20 left Blaine Gabbert led the Jags from around their own 25 yd line all the way down for the go ahead TD and then got the 2 point conversion to put them ahead by 3, 23-20. The energy was sucked out of the dome and it seemed like a bad loss. With 20 seconds left and 3 timeouts, Ponder drove about 40 yards to the Jags 38 and Blair Walsh nailed the 55 yard FG to send it to OT.

Ponder led another efficient drive in OT, setting up Walsh for the go ahead TD. The D shut the door and Vikes take the win 26-23.

The young man is improving, what a performance to open the season.
