Default Detroit Pistons draft lottery history

In the current system, the Pistons have only finished in the top three of the lottery once in 1994 when they had the second-worst record in the NBA (20-62) and wound up selecting third, choosing Grant Hill, who was on his way to a Hall of Fame career before ankle injuries derailed it.

The Pistons wound up with the second pick in 2003 due to a previous trade with the then-Vancouver Grizzlies, and the lottery protection on the trade expired, leading the Pistons to select Serbian big man Darko Milicic.

Unlike plenty of teams who need help up front and would select Kentucky big man Nerlens Noel with the first pick, a player who won't be on the floor until December due to tearing his ACL in February, the Pistons would be in a tough spot if they actually got lucky.
