Default Re: Grizzlies down 3-0 to Spurs

Enterprising reporters spotted Tim Duncan sipping on a celebratory beer after the game, and why not? Indeed, he should have treated himself to a six pack after Saturday’s performance: 24 points (11 for 19 FGs), 10 rebounds, five assists and two blocked shots.

According to ESPN Research, only two other players had 20/10/5 games this late in their careers: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Karl Malone. Duncan’s 144th playoff double-double — second only to Magic Johnson in NBA history — came 15 years and one month after his first. His point total pushed him past Jerry West for sixth place on the NBA’s career postseason scoring list.

And he did it while matched up against fellow All-NBA center and reigning Defensive Player of the Year Marc Gasol.
