Default 2013 NBA draft results for Wolves

The Minnesota Timberwolves tonight acquired the draft rights to Shabazz Muhammad, the 14th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, and Gorgui Dieng, the 21st overall pick, in exchange for the rights to Trey Burke, the ninth overall pick.

In his lone season at UCLA, Muhammad helped UCLA to a 25-10 record, the Pac-12 regular-season title, a runner-up finish in the Pac-12 Tournament and an NCAA Tournament berth. Muhammad led the Bruins in scoring on his way to securing First-Team All-Pac-12 honors. Muhammad's 17.9 ppg average ranked him fourth in the conference and second all-time among UCLA freshman, 9th all-time among Pac-12 freshman. Muhammad also earned Second-Team All-America honors from the Sporting News and was one of 21 players named to the Lute Olson All-America Team. Muhammed's .377 mark from long range ranked him 12th in the conference and his 40 three-pointers were second-most on the team. He scored in double figures in 31-of-32 games and at least 20 points in 14 games, guiding UCLA to a 12-2 record in those contests.

A Kebemer, Senegal native, Dieng was selected to the All-Big East First Team and named the Big East Defensive Player of the Year this past season as Louisville won the national championship. Dieng led the Cardinals in both rebounds (9.4 rpg) and blocks (2.5 bpg), ranking third in scoring (9.8 ppg). During Louisville’s NCAA tournament run, he averaged 8.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game, shooting .774 from the field. Dieng finished his three-year collegiate career with 267 blocked shots, the second-highest total in school history, including setting a school record with 128 blocks as a sophomore.
