If he's looking to (keep) building mass, the calories need to be at a surplus. Pizza doesn't hurt too much, particularly after exercising. Your body utilizes the carbs fast for good purposes when the glycogen stores are depleted. But yeah, black people for the most part have ridiculous genetics and natural mesomorph body types.
