You don't need to go into the type of player Smith is, I know what he was/is..... but he's not a HOF wideout.

He's 29th on the current Receptions list. Best case scenario he finishes top 10 when he retires.

24th on yards, best case he ends up top 10.

T42nd in touchdowns, best case he ends up top 20.

Tim Brown was top 3 in all major stat categories when he retired I believe and he still can't get in. It took Carter numerous times to get in and he was 4th, 2nd and 2nd in the three major stats when he retired.

Smith is going to be lucky to end up top 10 in two categories and top 20 in another. He's not going to make it.
While I think Brown will eventually get in it's looking bad for Smith. It's not even just about stats. Just look at the amount of negative reaction in this thread. None of these guys are HOF voters but for a guy to be a good bet for the HOF there should be a strong positive sentiment. And then, the way teams are throwing it these days his numbers are only going to look less impressive over time.

I'm rooting for him though, I hate to see guys like him and Fitzgerald that don't achieve all they should have because they didn't get to play with good QBs for significant parts of their careers.
