Default Power forward Alex Tyus commits to Florida

"Should Joakim Noah or Al Horford bolt for the NBA next summer, the Gators might be ready. Florida has received an oral commitment from standout power forward Alex Tyus of Cincinnati Harmony Community College, a consensus top-50 player for the 2007 recruiting class. ''Mainly, they fit my style of play,'' Tyus said. ``I feel I'm a different type of player they didn't have, and Coach [Billy] Donovan helps develop his players to the type of player they want to be.'' "Just days before Florida snagged Tyus, the Gators lost a crucial piece of their 2006 class. Guard Doneal Mack of Statesville (N.C.) Christian High was granted a release earlier this week because of academic reasons. ''Doneal did not meet enrollment requirements at the University of Florida and was thus released from his letter of intent,'' spokesman Fred Demarest said in a statement." Miami Herald
