If it comes down to wanting the best chance of winning between the Knicks and the Lakers, then he'd be stupid if he chose to stay with the Knicks. Gasol isn't going to sign for 5 million.
Potential Lakers roster if he signs:
Nash/Marshall (if they trade Nash)
Bryant
Melo
Randle
Gasol
Bench:
Hill
Young
Farmar
Johnson
???
Not as good as the potential lineups offered by Houston and Chicago but far better than a Amare on glass knees, an A-grade douchebag in Smith and no Chandler.

This seems bullshit.
Wasn't there earlier reports of PJ saying to Melo to take less or move on?
Makes no sense for the knicks to keep him. They don't have the players around him or the capspace/draft picks to do anything with him.
Why not let him walk?
