Re: Where's the scariest hood in America?
i got ice cream in compton once. its not that bad. been to south central before, not bad either. almost got shot in st louis once. thought i would get shot when i walked around baltimore. papa smurf bailed me out of a jam in detroit once (seriously, look him up, good dude, gave me some of his lucky beads too), someone got shot while i was walking around hartord, dc was dirty and i feared for my life on some occasions, paid a homeless man to protect me and walk me back to my hotel room in atlanta; also my friends got taken to a strip club by a rogue cabbie and robbed in atlanta.
not sure which to give the nod too tho.

There are some pretty rough spots here in Pittsburgh, I've come to learn.
Certainly not the scariest, but worth a mention.

compton and south central really arent that bad I have lived there before. I felt pretty safe walking around late at night with my buddies, it really has a bad reputation it doesnt deserve thanks to NWA and the like, who btw Arent even from Compton, Cube grew up in Grenada Hills a rich part of the San Fernando Valley.

Most people feel pretty comfortable walking around late at night in a neighborhood they've lived in for a while. I felt comfortable walking around the neighborhood I grew up in late at night. Once you've lived there you kind of.. get used to it. You learn how to handle yourself in certain situations. People who don't live there and visit, might not feel the same way.

Hartford, CT
Bridgeport, CT
South Bronx
parts of Harlem (even though most people dont think this is still true)
Camden, NJ...actually, all cities in NJ

Re: Where's the scariest hood in America?
every area of poverty will have pockets of streets that are more dangerous than others. it is hard to generalize and area such as south los angeles or south chicago because these places are so expansive
i used to live in compton in more an industrial area back in the early 90s and it was ok. but if you went one mile up, some of those streets were pretty bad
maybe because of drug wars that are happening in juarez mexico, it could the worst general area-- over 1,600 murders last year
