He will never, ever be a Clipper again. They already guaranteed that when they promised him that he was not included in any deal for Chris Paul, and then up and traded him anyway. Was pissed about that and was even quoted on it.

That said, his issues with injuries leads me to believe that he'll wind up in Portland.

Chris Paul should be a Laker right now helping Kobe catch MJ's 6 rings
It would not have been a better deal. The NBA is trying to sell the Hornets and it would be a lot harder to do that with a lot more guaranteed salary. The Hornets got youth and draft picks, much better than old players on large contracts. You need to look further than this season.

So it's easier to sell the Hornets with a 3-18 roster? The problem is that Stern doesn't want to relocate the Hornets out of New Orleans. Keeping that team in New Orleans is a horrible investment.

Yes it is. Potential owners don't care about the Win/Loss of the current team. Everything in business is about $$$ and the ability to create your vision of a team. Cap flexibility + young good players + draft picks are infinitely better than old players on large contracts who might not even make you a play off team.

    1. the Hornets will offer him the same amount in the summer.
    2. Gordon agent goes out and see if they can land a contract worth more than the offer and signs.
    3. If they can't Hornets win big, but if Gordon finds the contract he's looking for, hornets match.

Hornets can still match any offer to Gordon in the offseason. Just means they won't get a discount.

The Hornets with the Lakers deal would baaaaaarely reach the salary FLOOR next year. And that would be with Kmarts 12 million expiring deal. Lets not act like cap space is actually an issue.

And its never hard to sell an nba team. The founder of oracle said he bid 350 million. More than the NBA bought them for.....

Its not an issue of finding buyers. People bid for NBA teams and the NBA decides who to allow in based on a lot of issues. In this case...the desire to keep the team in NO is the major one. Larry Ellison was rumored to move them to San Jose.

The NBA having trouble selling a team is just straight fiction. Put an NBA team up for sale people come to you. But a desire to buy it and the money arent the only factors.

Its no doubt true the NBA wants to build up the fanbase so ticket sales and support look better so a new owner might keep them where they are. But really...they wouldnt go for Chris Paul on a playoff team.

Eric Gordon is not half the attraction he was.
