- For the younger guys......Penny Hardaway was DWade before there was a DWADE

No, Penny Hardaway was not D-Wade before D-Wade. Different skill-sets, and Penny wasn't close to the kind of scorer that Wade was.

Penny had more potential than Wade. He was Lebron's mold. Bron obviously took it to another level.

- well they wern't exactly the same player....but I think they both were cut from the same cloth.
- Hardaway could break down his defender and Finish at the rim ( Wade could also....Wade was slightly better)
- Hardaway could shoot the mid range off of the driible ( wade very similar)
- Hardaway was a good 3 point shooter with timely shots ( Wade also....Penny was better IMO)
- Hardaway wasn't as aggressive at attacking the rim, he would rather work teh offense more then Wade...but he could absolutley score with the best players of the early 90's.
- for some reason they do remind me alot of each other.....Wade is so Unique he is hard to compare to past players...Penny just seemed similar to me.

Prime Penny is better than Wade.
But they are both primadonna bitches.
Both are BTK though.

This was actually past prime Penny. He was never the same after his 97 injury.

Titles are overrated
Re: Kobe Bryant vs Prime Penny Hardaway 1999
After like 96 penny just showed flashes of his prime. 99 playoffs for example. But he wasn't special

Did anyone even click the link?
It's all about Kobe scoring 38 points. No Penny highlights.

Kind of figured judging by the poster.
Penny = Dwade? lol
He was LeBron before LeBron. 6-7 point forward. Legit 1, 2, and 3.

Thank you for the slight time save. I was looking forward to some rare Penny clips. '99 was a weird time for Hardaway because as folks said, he was past that magical time of his career already and I wanted another chance to see what he was bringing to the table post-injury, for at the time, I'd mostly written him off.

NBA lottery pick
Re: Kobe Bryant vs Prime Penny Hardaway 1999
Penny at his best was like a mix of Gervin and Magic with freak athletic ability mixed in. I always viewed Wade as a mix of David Thompson and Sidney Moncrief. Or a smaller poor man's version of MJ. Two different but deadly kind of players.
For my money, peak Kobe Bryant is the second best perimeter player of all time behind MJ. GOAT wise, I think Kobe is the third or fourth greatest perimeter player. But in terms of the best player flat out perimeter wise, I think MJ, Kobe, Bron, Magic, and Bird are as good as it gets. From there guys like West, Wade, Big O, Hondo, Dr. J, and a prime T Mac would be my next picks. If Penny could have stayed healthy at least as long as TMac, I could see Penny in that second group of guys I listed. He was that great, but Kobe I feel was clearly better.

Young Kobe was so damn good. He was cocky and dominating. It's like nobody can't stop him and he was dropping buckets on people.

Penny was more similar to tmac than dwade. Similar height and skillset. Tmac being a stronger build. Both had the tools and ability to be as good as kobe but really never were.
