he does a nice job with his defensive efforts, but Melo still ate his food. While Lebron made Melo look like a scrub when he defended him.

    Melo?

    Comeon please.

we all know espn is biased...melo torched lebron and when that happens they give that fg to the helper so lebrons stats look good for espn

lebron plays with starters who play better help defense while battier plays with reserves who dont play as good help defense... this is why it seems like lebron is good defender but he is actually not

where's the evidence for this? miami hardly ever doubled melo and melo clearly had an easier time scoring on battier. he also usually scored in iso situations, meaning 1 on 1. it sounds more like an excuse or something you want to believe more than anything else. hell, it's borderline conspiracy theory status in here. suddenly, joel anthony is the worst help defender in the world.

also, miami isn't particularly deep so the argument makes even less sense. spo has been playing eight main players and miller/battier have generally been playing 20 mins or less after game 1. he's been heavily relying on his starters and a real short rotation.

so this bench you speak of? cole, turiaf and jones didn't even play in game 5.

melo did hit some tough shots on lebron today. that shows how good he is. many of those same shots he clanked vs lebron. melo and anybody who is sane would say lebron's D made melo struggle much more than battier's this series

Disagree. Carmelo raised over Battier countless times in one of one situation.

Oh he sure did. He dropped a HUGE 35 points, and it only took him 31 shots and 4 free throws to do it.

15-31 FG. And he jacked up a desperation 3 at the end of one quarter.

and 52-124 for a 42% FG and more TO's than assists in the series

he even disappointed at the FT line. 30-41 for 73.2% when he usually shoots around 80%

Game 1 the Knicks were unprepared for the excessive Melo fronting and Woodson was slow to make adjustments. Melo was rattled from the start of the game (a trend to begin postseasons).

Game 3 Amar'e was out. Melo was literally the only scoring option and the defense converged on him.

Besides those 2 games, Melo shot 12-26 FG in game 2, 15-29 FG in game 4 and 15-31 FG in game 5. Melo improved as the series progressed. Sure it is somewhat tasteless to pick and choose games from the series, but he had more good games than bad games and you can't deny that he was the only legitimate scoring option on the team.
