Yes there is. There is a massive financial incentive. Players want to play in NY in every sport. Just recently, Melo forced his way there. LeBron almost signed there but didn't because he realized how much of a joke the organization is.

They've been in LA since the 84-85 season. 29 seasons is "relatively new" ? The fans of LA can switch or be a fan of both teams. I've seen clips of this. The Lakers weren't dominating the 90's when Magic and Worthy were gone and the Clippers didn't "take over".
Okay so maybe they aren't that new but they have to compete with the Lakers who have built up a massive following. Besides, the Clippers are at least in good shape NOW.

Not the worst, but it is badly run. The fans are starving for any kind of success, we go nuts if they are supposed to be contenders in the playoffs. True Knicks fans won't jump on the stupid Nets bandwagon.

This is true. First superstar that delivers a title to New York gets a statue at MSG. They would only have to win once for that treatment.

Nah... there are far worse franchises in sports, and even in the NBA. They are awful though. At least NYers have the Yankees and Giants.

Nobody wants to play in Seattle or Cleveland. They're a victim of circumstance not because their organizations are utter crap.

If ur not a attractive city or market u have to build thru draft and hire a great staff

browns raiders bills all teams who r utter crap because they r terrible drafters and terrible at evaluating personnel [/COLOR]

Superstars definitely prefer playing in New York to Toronto though

Maybe Wiggins will sign with Toronto during his FA.

No doubt the browns/raiders/bills are mismanaged but it's not as bad as the Knicks because it's more difficult to run those organiztions (i.e attract big names) than it is for the Knicks.

Anyone who helps deliver a championship to a starving franchise in NY (Knicks, Jets, Mets, Rangers) will never have to pay for their own drink in this town. I'm sure it's that way for Mark Messier. Whoever that guy is, I will personally pay for and do his laundry for a year. Make it happen

This isn't about other sports. It's about the Knicks basketball team. Melo forcing his way there probably played large part in due to his wife wanting to be there. If James realized the franchise is a joke, then that just proves that market size and financial incentive doesn't matter, especially not to somebody like James.

On that note, Clippers should be in the mindset to challenge for titles every year now. They've been in the cellar for so long, it's time to take that huge step.

I don't know about all those rings - but they certainly would have been much better. I must say tho - Starks and Mason were Riley's boys, so Mr. Armani has come a long way too.
