good move for Dallas. Don't understand it from the bobcats side.

They clear some salary off the books and feel they can cover the loss of chandler at C.

I could see Kidd and RB starting I guess, but I don't really like it. Jones isn't a PG, he's a SG. I think Dallas makes a move for a SG still, a normal sized one. I can't see Marion starting over Butler after how bad he was last year. They need to buy him out and swallow that one. Bad idea from the start to sign an athelticism dependent player to a long term deal when he's on the wrong side of 30.

Chandler for Rip Hamilton? Maybe include Wilcox and Stevenson. I think both sides win. Pistons get cap space next year and a C to team with Wallace while Monroe develops. Dallas already has a good C and no legit SG, just SFs and undersized combo guards.

this shocked me a bit. That's an expensive C combo. They are loading up on length to deal with the Lakers and protect Kidd/Terry who can't defend the Parkers of the world. Or they possibly just wanted to get something for Dampier's voidable deal and will use Chandler in another trade.

True. Cause all the length and depth against LA doesn't help us if we can't even make it to the second round, let alone the WCF (where the Lakers most probably will wait). I'm just hoping that Carlisle is gonna let Roddy start. At least that'd be an upgrade.

Seriously though I have to believe that this trade is a set-up for another one. The cats don't have a starting PG and I can't see Larry Brown going into the season with DJ Augustin running the team.

They actually can clear 13 million.
Dampier's contract is non-guaranteed, so if he gets waived, he doesn't get a dime.
Hopefully, when Dampier gets waived, then he can come to the Hawks. We need his size. We have our MLE still available.

Well. Nazr Mohammed (Yes: Nazr Mohammed) has been better for the Cats than Chandler, the team just looks better with him out there. And I don't know if Ratliff is coming back? Ratliff was solid as well, so with those two and Diop still deep on the bench it's not even a stepback in quality.

The problem is that Carroll is owed something like 12 million over the next three seasons and Najera is owed 5 million over the next two seasons. Bobcats are actually taking on more money here.

Carroll may be one of the originals, and I'd take him back in an instant if we were sending some shit in return, because at least Carroll is a real competitor. But this is a bit much.
