Re: Clippers and NBA-owned Hornets have agreed to Chris Paul deal in principle
Clippers should've stayed right where they were.
Billups/Williams
Gordon/Bledsoe
Butler/Aminu
Griffin
Jordan/Kaman

So all of this is theoretical right now? How close to an agreement are they realistically?

Clipps gave a lot but they got the third best PG in the game.
If he stays healthy they'll be a playoff team. They just gotta get that player that will take over in crunch time cuz CP3 ain't it.

Clippers are now a legitimate playoff team. No doubt about it. They have holes, but they are going to be filled because now players will come on the cheap. You get the superstar players and then worry about the rest.
CP3 is a guy who can finally dig this team out of the ground. Losing Gordon hurts. But he was also injury prone and no way of knowing if he was going to turn into a superstar.
Chris Paul is coming off a bloody knee injury, and he's only got 2 years ensured on his contract. We get to pair up CP3 and Blake Griffin, but where the hell is all of our depth now? Did you not see what happened to New York this year?
Eric Gordon was on the cusp of being a star. Not to mention his injuries are not the result of chronic problems in his ligaments, but they're just unfortunate incidents that happen during games. Not to mention he is younger, cheaper, and would have been had for at least 5 years if he was resigned.
Now all it takes is for 1 of our best players to get injured and we're an instant lottery team. Fan-****ing-tastic.

I guess David Stern was vindicated. Much much better deal than the Lakers one.

Does anybody else not realize the Clippers were betting against themselves?

No he's just not going to opt out of his contract. He'll be a free agent in two years.

He's not signing an extension. He's just picking up his player option, which is for 1 extra year. Then he's a FA.

We absolutely got bent over. The Hornets had NOBODY ELSE BIDDING on CP3. And they took all of our best assets for a guy coming off a knee injury with a 2 year contract.
**** this squad.
STFU, you have Chris Paul & Blake Griffin, you will win go like 45-21 and then win 55-60 the year after.
You are now elite, you were crap before.

Re: Clippers and NBA-owned Hornets have agreed to Chris Paul deal in principle
Clippers gave up more than what the Knicks gave up to get Carmelo.
I know that Paul is a great player but that package is outrageous for a guy with shaky knees.
Stern fleeced them badly. The Hornets are set up well for the future. Awesome trade for them.
