Default Band of brothers-Why is this show so rarely talked about and...

.. never recommended to anyone who's asking for some great shows on here?

I finally got the see the whole 10 episodes + documentary and I must say this mini-series is a true masterpiece. The show is based on real events in WW2 and the executive producers of the show are Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks.

I definitely recommend watching the show first and then the documentary where the one's who survived are telling the story from the first hand(so you won't spoil yourself everything by watching documentary first). It's a great show with great acting. The documentary itself is also perfect, it gave me goosebumps most of the time and I was on the edge of crying almost every 5 minutes.

This show is certainly in my top 3 shows ever now, it's completely different from other great shows which are mostly focused on radical plot twists.

I recommend watching this show to everyone and if there are any old school COD 1 players like me on here, well you certainly can't miss on that one. Also. it doesn't have 9.6 rating on IMDB for nothing.

I tried to re-watch it with my gf and it turned out really flat. I loved for the first time though...

We watched a half of the Pacific, I didn't find it too interesting...

-It was huge when released, and as you said, has a 9.6 rating for a reason. Any history or war film buff has it in their collection, rest assured.

I actually never got around to watching The Pacific, although I had intended to, so I can't comment on that one.

BTW, if you like mini-series' revolving around WWII, you should check out the Heimat series if you can find it. It's one of the most amazing "movies" I've ever seen, and is a must-see for anyone interested in the subject.

I've never watched it because at the time I was looking for a torrent of it, I couldn't find a high quality one, that had enough people sharing. Back when the box set came out a coworker offered to lend it to me, and I now regret not accepting the offer. Still hoping to see it some time soon.

I tried to watch it as it was being released all those years ago, but the pallet is so gray, and the characters so similar in the early going, that I couldn't stick.

But, I finally caught it in a marathon form on some hot memorial day or something and watched all ten hours in the air conditioning, and it was spectacular. The sequence in the wooded town in the snow when they stumble on the camp is some of the most beautiful and powerfull stuff I can ever recall seeing. I've since watched it in pieces many many times.

I was pumped for The Pacific, and felt it fell a little flat. It's more split narrative, with the three central characters all of whom were developed a little more made the rest of the cast feel like sketches to me, and I didn't like it nearly as much.

The episodes centered around Sledge I would put right up against anything in BoB. The rest was pretty forgettable.

Maybe, but what I wanted to say is that always when some guys ask for something good to watch you hear The Wire and Sopranos(which are both also pretty old shows) then Breaking bad, Got,...

I never saw someone recommend Band of brothers yet and it's a damn shame because it really is a masterpiece and I'm not someone who is really into war/history movies and series or war/history in general. It's true that it's not a show but a mini-series so it's something you can't watch over a longer period of time but still...

I've spoken about it here before. My favorite TV series ever.

Next tier is Breaking Bad/Game of Thrones.
