Re: Splitting California into Six States
Tim Draper filed a ballot initiative in December stating that because of recent social and economic changes California has become “nearly ungovernable.”
This is true. We got a lot of ****ing problems in this state that are stupid and should have been easily avoidable but the ballot system makes it hard to get anything done, among other things.
6 states seems a bit excessive, though. 2 or 3 tops.

Re: Splitting California into Six States
California is just too big to be governed by one government. We are like a country here and even though I believe it is too big to be governed, I think we should stick together.
There is the United States of America and there is California.
California is the best.

They could easily claim Bakersfield with how the border is lined up. West Cali should take Bakersfield and South California.

This. If we are going to split states because there are subtle differences between one area and another, we might as well split up every large city into a separate state from suburban and rural areas.

Personally, I'm hoping my petition to form the state of Dakota goes through.

Re: Splitting California into Six States
This caught my eye...
If California were its own separate country, it would have the eighth-largest economy in the world.

Re: Splitting California into Six States
"West California"? Rofl. Call it Los Angeles, you fk**s. The proposed names are terrible, and so are the boundaries. How dare they group the east bay slime with the glorious peninsula. Whoever drew up this map is clearly from Sacramento, 'cause he wanted nothing to do with Stockon (lol @ Stockton + Fresno + Bakersfield), and he's claiming Santa Rosa (SRJC, baby!) even though it just makes no sense.

I'm down... Then we can start charging So Cal for all that water they take and do nothing of value with.

Re: Splitting California into Six States
Split it into a million states, Tim Draper. It'll do little to stop the Mexican takeover.

6 States
Thats way too damn much.
Jefferson?WTF?
Exactly what kind of economy is up there, theres almost 0 major cities compared to rest of Cali.
Itll be like taking Florida and splitting up far east where it gets Hosed hard.
Silicon Valley can support itself-home of Microsoft, google, computer technology, porn companies.
LA region is fine bc LA and Santa Barbara-probably two most highest gdp places
San Diego and san Francisco regions-fine.
Thsi is still gonna severely cut LA down HARD though.
Without the economy coming from all of Cali but with LA
being the epicenter of money going through--Dont Know.
Sound interesting but 6 states is too much
2-4 would work
either North Cali and South
North,West,Central,South Cali would work.
Hell Miami had the same Idea. But miami is roughly 50+% of Floridas gdp and revenue, and theyre nothing like any other Fl city and its like its own state basically.
Miami and its whole surrounding areas make up over 6+ million people,
The tourism industry and Miamis revenue are keeping Fl what it is.
Though even if Calis gov cant keep it up,
if they all become own state,YOU Still need a Governor
and then knowing LA if it bevomes its own state--
tax and everything in general will become absurdly expensive.
Idvsay lets do it then, but with 2-4 states, add Miami as well on its own,
Split up Vegas from Nevada-it has its own rules and governed differentl than rest of Nev,split up Chicago from Illinois,NYC from NY and there
you go.
