If you make a really good, descriptive post (doesn't even have to be long -- just informative), your count jumps up +3. I've heard of some of the really good posters going up +5, but never actually seen one of the posts.

Your post count becomes eligible to be deducted from once you reach 100 in your post count. Once that happens, if you make any retarded/stupid/bad/worthless posts, your post count will go down -1. I don't think you can ever lose more than one point from your post count, but if you keep getting -1's, eventually your count will go all the way down to 0. Once that happens, that account name gets perma-banned, and you'll have to either leave the site or create a new, different name.

    I like the perma-ban part.

When this board first opened, people were posting like crazy to try and get their post total up. It was pretty bad. Just go back to the very first threads and you'll see evidence of this.

I don't know about you guys, but it's frightening to see some posters who joined ISH in like Feb. 2007 and already have like 2,000+ posts. I seriously don't know how they do it, unless they literally just post emotions.

I know what you mean. I've been here for a year and am nowhere near some of these people. I feel like I post frequently, but it just doesn't seem to add up.

The only thing i ever see post counts used for is to insult GoBB by saying, "At least i have a life and dont make 40,000 posts on a messageboard".

Some people who post a lot prob have boring office jobs where they have lots of down time. That's one explanation.

Funny this thread came up. I just reached my 1000th post.

Don't feel like makin' a thread about it not many of you know me so there is no point, but I do my part and contribute to the ISH boards.

    Quality over Quantity

I found a compromise though. I post something in between invaluable treasure and worthless garbage, but I post al ot of it because

    1) I have plenty of time in the office since my work is not busy

    2) I type at 70 words/minute.
