If Cleanthony Early can be the new Draymond Green, I'd be so pumped to see him. He can play 3 and 4. Guard bigger guys and punish small forwards. Mobile, can shoot it and has an excellent basketball IQ.
Flexibility is so important in todays nba game. A more three man version of Pat pat would be awesome.

McDermott - more questions???

___

The tape measures were not kind to forward Doug McDermott, the reigning Naismith Player of the Year after a season at Creighton in which he averaged 26.7 points and shot 52.6 percent from the field.

When it came time to measure McDermott at the NBA’s draft combine Thursday, there was disappointment — he was only 6-foot-6.25 without shoes. That should put him at about 6-foot-7.5 with shoes (maybe slightly higher), below the 6-foot-8 at which he was listed by the Bluejays.

The bigger problem is that McDermott’s wingspan is only 6-foot-9.25, which puts him in the company of guards Dante Exum, C.J. Wilcox and Marcus Smart. McDermott is a poor defender, and there was already concern that he would struggle to find a role in the NBA because, as great a scorer as he is, it’s difficult to define his position. These measurements only firm up that worry.

Update on Adrien Payne projected potential Raptor pick

Adreian Payne: The athletic stretch four measured with the third biggest wingspan at 7-4 after measuring a 7-foot wingspan in 2009 at the LeBron James Camp. He also has gained 25 pounds since then, which is impressive. Payne had one of the largest height-to-wingspan differentials with a plus-7. Payne's measurable (6-9 no shoes and 239 pounds)

Update on K.J McDaniels - prejected potential Raptors Pick

K.J. McDaniels: The Clemson forward showed one of the reasons why he was able to register 1.4 steals and 3.3 blocks per 40 minutes as a small forward last season as he measured with a 6-11

* sourse Washinton Post sport op ed piece

Tyler Ennis projected potential Raptors Pick

We hear so much about Ennis’ lack of athleticism, and some of those claims are fair. But the former Syracuse standout actually tested better than expected at the NBA combine, jumping for a 36-inch max vertical. Meanwhile, his 6-foot-3 body that boasts a 6-foot-7 wingspan means he could match up against point guards of any size.

But with Ennis, it all comes down to elite decision-making. That turnover rate starts to look even more impressive when you realize that defenses began trapping him consistently when he dribbled around screens at the end of the season. That strategy became the best way to stifle a one-dimensional Syracuse offense. Still, Ennis wasn’t giving away the rock.

Cleanthony seems to be a classic tweener 3/4 and actually kind evokes memory of a guy like Corliss Williamson... if you are old enough to remember him.

True tweener 3/4 are awesome players if they are in the right system.. if not it turns into what the Pistons have with Josh...

Draft boards variously list him as PF / SF or just forward.

Raptors working out Ennis on Thursday. There seems to be a lot of interest there for the Raps. Don't know where he would fit in the scheme if Lowry does resign though.

Come on, you really don't know?

PG - Lowry
SG - Ennis
SF - Vasquez

@ Q - LOL.

"I think" the interest in Ennis is at least partly political. If KLow and agent are demanding money the Raptors are not prepared to pay this interest in Ennis sends a message.

However I dont mind the move personally as indicated earlier. Tyler Ennis is better than Stone / De Colo / Bucyks combined as third off the bench. 3 for 1 so to speak and you would save cap money with one contract @ $1.3M verses 3 minimum salaries @ $900M each. Groom for future.

Also imagine the roster impact.

1) Allows you to bring in a vetern min contract at the 3/4 position. The guy we invited to summer camp for example or an Alan Anderson contributor for reasonable money (the anti Fields)
2) What "potential package" could you land for Gervais Vasquez, Terrence Ross and Amir Johnson ?? Could you land Greg Monroe from the Pistons in a sign and trade ?

Pure speculation on my part but...its the kind of "flexible roster asset" team that Masai built in Denver. Its his modus operandi.

Top Talented Picks that could slip into the second round

* source CBS sports online from May 22

I am not sure I agree with KJ McDaniels slipping; in fact I think he may rise but the other two players seem to be strong potential fits with the Raptors 2nd round pick.

Players "projected rumored" the Raptors may select

K.J. McDaniels, Clemson: There's a good chance McDaniels could be snatched up by the end of the first round but if that isn't the case, he'll be found money for whoever drafts him. Armed with great length at 6 feet, 6 inches, McDaniels can defend multiple positions and fits the description of a prototypical NBA wing. Built to be a quality role player at the pro level, McDaniels averaged an 7.1 rebounds and 2.8 blocks for Clemson last season but must improve his outside shooting (30.4 percent from three-point range) if he's to stick as an NBA small forward.

Johnny O'Bryant, LSU: A pure five-man in college, O'Bryant will transition to power forward in the NBA and has the ability to rebound his position from day one. O'Bryant is 6-9 and a legitimate 260. He's a brute who will bang, hit the glass and won't be afraid to mix things up in the paint. The most important thing for O'Bryant at the professional level will be his ability to develop a pick-and-pop game so he can play off his point guard on offense.

Cory Jefferson, Baylor: Jefferson already fits the profile of an NBA power forward. At 6-9 and 220 pounds, Jefferson has the necessary strength to defend his position at the NBA level. Another thing to keep in mind about Jefferson? He made 14 three-point shots last season as a junior after only making three as a sophomore and has shot the ball exceptionally well in early workouts. While he's built like an interior presence, Jefferson has also worked hard to develop a face-up game on offense and that's something that should benefit him moving forward. This should be a rotation player somewhere in the next few seasons.

Consensus Mock draft

*nbadraft dot net.

Consensus drafts can be misleading but movement of players up and down lists is informative.

15 *Atlanta Kyle Anderson SF
16 Chicago Dario Saric SF/PF
17 *Boston Adreian Payne PF
18 *Phoenix Tyler Ennis PG
19 Chicago Nik Stauskas SG
20 Toronto TJ Warren SF
21 *Oklahoma Cty Elfrid Payton PG
22 Memphis Shabazz Napier PG
23 *Utah Glenn Robinson III SF
24 *Charlotte Cleanthony Early SF/PF
25 Houston Jordan Clarkson PG/SG

Notes:

GR3's performance at combine in athletic drills must be moving him up.

Ennis moving down although I dont see Suns drafting a PG (garbage)

Stauskas / TJ Warren seem to settle into low first round as opposed to just outside the lottery i.e. 8 - 15 is now 15- 20

Cleanthony moving up.

Don't forget, we already have 5 PG's on the current roster too. He could be thinking:

PG - Lowry
SG - Buckys
SF - De Colo
PF - Stone
C - Vasquez

6th man - Ennis
