If you can find it, get a Nike Versa Tack basketball. They're affordable, quite durable and have great grip. Made of composite leather, official size and weight, identical bounce to high quality indoor leather balls such as tf1000, molten official and spalding nba.

That's an outdoor ball, made of rubber which is not good for the serious player.
