Because they're dumb. An average, competently made movie is a 5. A 7 means it's pretty solid. A 9 is nearly flawless. A 10 is perfect.
If you wouldn't watch something again you shouldn't give it a 7 or higher.
If you have problems with the 1-10 system, use a 1-5.
Yeah think too many people just get caught up in the moment and post straight away. Even a pretty good movie should be a 7 or at max an 8.
