Re: Generation Kill.
the real Person is on the L (obviously)
Corporal Josh Ray Person: Dear Frederick, thank you for your nice letter, but I am actually a US Marine who was born to kill whereas clearly you have mistaken me for some sort of wine-sipping Communist dick-suck. And although peace probably appeals to tree-loving bisexuals like you and your parents, I happen to be a death-dealing, blood-crazed warrior who wakes up every day just hoping for the chance to dismember my enemies and defile their civilizations. Peace sucks a hairy a$$hole, Freddy. War is the motherfukcing answer.
Sergeant Antonio 'Poke' Espera: But thanks for writing, anyway.
Corporal Josh Ray Person: Aww, man, every motherfukcer in this camp is just waiting for packages of dip, Rip Fuel, porn mags, batteries, hash chunks, dirty-ass jerk-off letter from Suzy Rottencrotch, except for Brad Colbert over here, who actually thinks that his mail-order turret is gonna come in before we step off. But no, all we get is this happy-day fukcing horseshyt from Miss Cunnt Lips' fourth grade class. Can you fukcing believe this shyt?

It's hard to picture how E.Wright had a chance to write decent notes w/bullets & bombs flying everywhere (they were one of the lead convoys)...then again, he writes for Rolling Stone, he's probably used to a little distraction.

The Paterfamilias
Re: Generation Kill.
I thought it was excellent... Entirely underrated, as it seemingly went unnoticed. I've talked to people that have been in Iraq, though, and they told me that this was, far and away, the most accurate depiction of everyday life as a foot soldier.
I HIGHLY recommend it.
I never read the book, but I did read the series of articles that were written in the Rolling Stone which led to the book. Great stuff.

Is there a Season 2? I was under the impression that this was a one season thing?

yeah, it was a mini series (one-time thing).

Oh yeah, Mitch Kramer?
Re: Generation Kill.
Book, obviously, was way better.
Series was fantastic, too, but in an entirely different way than BoB, HBO's other war collection. Also check out "One Bullet Away," which is Nate Fick's memoirs of becoming an officer and deployment to Afghanistan & Iraq.
