I have a Sportscaster card from the 70's signed by Bevo, who is a great guy and a better story. Even invited me to attend his Rio Grande College team's reunion a few years ago.

As to the OP, fortunately the Wizards know lots more about basketball than you do. Nobody was high on drafting Wall for his ability to be a "scoring machine".

Someday there will be an idiot filter to automatically delete threads like this.

obviously some people dont watch College Ball. Not only was Wall on the same team as FOUR other 1st rounders, but College Ball moves at a slower pace because of the zones and there's less time (only 40 minutes).

btw, having a low career-high in college doesnt translate the same in to the pros. other posters have already proven that theory wrong (Gilbo: college-30, pros-60 etc).

and i dont think anyone thinks he's going to be a scoring machine.

As KBlaze already pointed out, college stats don't really mean shit, especially when you're on a team with 4 other 1st round picks. If you look up the NCAA statistical leaders, you'll find that a lot of the top guys don't even make the NBA.

If you wanna talk college stats, why not compare Wall to the last 2 NBA ROY winners, who played under the same coach and same system in college?

Derrick Rose at Memphis: 14.9 ppg/4.5 rpg/4.7 apg
Tyreke Evans at Memphis: 17.1 ppg/5.4 rpg/3.9 apg
John Wall at Kentucky: 16.6 ppg/4.3 rpg/6.5 apg

Dennis rodman put up I think 27 and 20 in college one season. Scott haffner dropped 65 in a game then scored 4ppg in the NBA. Jodie Meeks had a 54 point game and did what this year?

College numbers are...at best...somewhat suggestive of what you can do in the NBA.

Shit look up Bevo Francis. Guy had about 10 games between 65 and 115 points and at most 2 people who will read this even knows who that is.

College is a place where good players can be ridden to great numbers or great winning. Sometimes both. But on a team with 5 first round picks what kind of coach would try to ride one of them enough for him to put up crazy numbers?

College numbers for a really good player is pretty much just what his system allowed.

Bo Kimble wouldnt have put up 35ppg at Duke and John Wall might have scored 25 on a no name school with a coach who would ride the one good player he had.

On a team with multiple high picks?

    Why?
Didn't Kurt Thomas also lead the nation in points and rebounds one year. Just another one your post reminded me of.

Anyway, yeah this thread is pretty stupid.

    He's a Pg....

they dont need to score like machines... they need to distribute the ball and hit a shot when needed

Michael Jordan freshman year UNC - 13.5 ppg
John Wall freshman year UK - 16.6 ppg

I guess that means John Wall will be a career 30 ppg scorer also....

    What an idiotic thread.

The retard that started this thread must have forgotten that Wall also played with Cousins, Patterson, and many other offensive threats AND they won games which is what's important granted they didn't win the championship . Put Wall on a team where he's the only weapon and he could drop 20+ a night easily.

Pass first PG's with the ability to take over is what winning NBA teams need.

Deron Williams' high during his junior season at Illinois was only 23 and he averaged around 12 points per game. Just saying.
