Default Uk Stops Housing benefits To jobless EU migrants

Maybe Our UK posters can shed Some light on what is going on there. I know stateside it feels like immigrates Get more benefits than the citizens do. It makes it very hard to be a honest worker when other people are allowed to buck the system legally. http://uk.news.yahoo.com/britain-sto...-business.html

In the UK people can apply for free money and free housing. It is very easy to cheat the system. I think the free healthcare for everyone is brilliant, but the free housing and free money for lazy scroungers is bullshit and has lead to the UKs current culture of being lazy.

But if you bring up ending benefits and housing you get instantly branded a racist nazi.

    No hope for this country.

But the National Healthcare is amazing. I think that's one thing the USA needs to try to adopt if possible. Too bad insurance companies have so much political sway.

Not true at all, NHS is the greatest healthcare system in the world for a country that big.

The only weakness is sometimes there is a long waiting list to see doctors, but its completely free so what can you complain about. They have private doctors here too of course if you want to pay for them.

My brother was here for Christmas a few years ago, he got pnemonia and I had to take him to the emergency room, they sent an ambulance and treated him, they didnt need his passport, ID or anything. I couldnt believe it. They just took him in no questions asked. In the US an ambulance and emergency room treatment probably costs $2000+ or something ridiculous. Also you have to fill out so much paperwork before they treat you.

NHS isn't perfect but its much better then the US system and from what I understand one of the top national healthcare systems in Europe for a country as big as the UK.

They do prescribe paracetamol or Ibuprofen as the solution to a lot of problems but thats not to take away from the good work they do otherwise.

It is the same in the Netherlands.

Not so long ago there was a research on the hospitals with the least patients infected by a certain bacteria ( dont recall the name) in hospitals. Netherlands took the Nr.1 spot.

The reason for this was that Dutch Doctors do not easily prescribe antibiotics to patients unless there is no other way around it. Patients tend to not follow the antibiotics treatment until the end which causes bacteria becoming immune to the medicine.

So yeah, UK Doctors are right to prescribe Aspirin in cases where Antibiotics are not needed.

I had in mind specific case of a friend of mine. He had near death threatening stomach aches, he got aspirin and sent off to home Not to mention the ridiculous waiting and zero attention.

It's most likely a ploy by a politician to get votes, realistically we should be giving jobless EU migrants the same rights as jobless Brits. It's not like the jobless Brits are contributing anything better than the migrants are, really.

My friend had a problem when Section 8's moved into his apartment building. If your apartment starts allowing Section 8 residents, move out quickly! Having been a property manager for years, you will not believe my horror stories.

That's just rubbish the media has fed you. I'm sure they used words such as socialism too when talking about a government controlled health care system. You can still have private health care if you want it. My mum has a BUPA health care plan. The NHS is there for anyone who needs it, especially the people who can't afford to pay for private insurance.

I still fail to understand how Americans seem opposed to the idea. I have absolutely no problems paying Tax money towards the NHS even though I barely use it.

The benefits system has changed in that jobless immigrants can't immediately claim housing and income support the moment they step into the country. There has also been cases of families claiming child support for children that don't live in the U.K. While I do think the benefits system is misrepresented it's also in need of reform. It's too easy to cheat the system that has been set up to help genuine cases.

All this makes **** all difference to paying back the national debt. The only way we can secure ourselves from falling back into a recession is to reform the banking sector. We can start by taking away the power for private banks to generate money out of thin air. Which is what they do.

    Taken from this article

"They will also only be able to claim jobseeker's cash for six months, unless they have a "genuine" chance of work."

I see the word genuine as a huge loop hole. A lot of the immigrants in the UK are from Eastern Europe; specifically Romania, Poland and Kosovo. The majority of them work in construction so it's easy for them to take them to work one day and say they're employed.

The UK Government website says jobseeker's allowance gets taxed but maybe if there was a higher tax rate on it for migrants it could deter them from playing the system? Or the rate increases periodically the longer you claim it. I don't know if they already do this.

I couldn't imagine a system different to the NHS working. In the USA, if you can't pay for treatment you don't get it or you receive a large bill which seems messed up to me. If a homeless person gets attacked how do they pay for it?
