If Lakers get Barbosa too then this shit is getting ridiculous. He'd be their version off the bench like Harden and Terry. Would be a magical team.

    He's a borderline bum now.

He used to be it when he could score, but since he isn't as good (and maybe he could be if he was motivated) he's just a liability. There is no match up at the 2 that he can check.

If this happens the league might as well give LA the title

Kobe, Nash, Dwight, Artest, Pau, Jamison, Meeks, Barboso, Hill,

    Agreed

Adding Barbosa would be nuts. He is instant scoring off the bench along with Jamison.

    Who would the Lakers drop?

Yes, because the title has typically been awarded to the deepest team on paper before the start of the season for the last 20 years.

    Uhm.
00-02' Lakers - 2 superstars (not the deepest)
    03 Spurs - deep
    04 Pistons - deep
    05 Spurs - deep
    06 Heat - 2 superstars
    07 Spurs - deep
    08 Celtics - 1 superstar + 2 all-stars
    09 Lakers - superstar + all-star (relatively deep)
    10 Lakers - same as 10'
11 Mavs - only real exception, and they're team was deep (Dirk, Chandler, Kidd, Marion, Terry is a nice core)
    12 Heat - 2 superstars + 1 all-star

So yes, titles have been typically awarded to a very deep team or a team with at least 2 superstars.

Lakers have two superstars in Dwight & Kobe, plus two all-stars in Gasol & Nash. A pretty decent bench too boot, one of the better benches if they do indeed add Barbosa.

I know your rebutal before you even post. 04' Lakers had too much distractions and they still managed to make the finals. Shaquille had his toe injury plus out of shape all season; Kobe had his trial all season (sometimes had to go to court before playing a game that same day); the beef between Kobe & Shaquille, remember the very first game when Kobe came out in the 2nd half and sat next to Shaquille and how big of a deal it was?

Payton was alright but Malone was fighting injuries all season, and was injured during the finals. I'm sure LA would have a difficult time winning a championship if they had to fight all those distractions/injuries too.

Lakers are not only deep, they also have 4 all-stars on the team. The last 12 champions all either had a deep team or stacked up top (Lakers & Heat).

So I really don't know what point you were trying to make.
Sure no team wins a title on paper, but the way you phrased it: it is 100% incorrect.

Why even comment about people getting excited/hyping up the Lakers? Heat got the same damn treatment and most were picking them as title favorites. But since it's LA, we should make an exception?

    Please.

Barbosa can still produce off the bench. He's a smart player that can relieve both Nash and Kobe for a couple of minutes. He's a little undersized for SG and too slow for PG but it's a matter of knowing how to match him up. Great signing if it's done.

Nash, Barbosa, Jamison, Hill & Howard can run; he'd fit perfectly at the 2 with this lineup.

Barbosa, Meeks, Ebanks, Jamison & Hill works too; him and Jamison can be instant offense for us off the bench.
I think LB is a no brainer if we can have him for cheap.

    It's not 2005 buddy.

Yes, that's right Barbosa...take the minimum and improve the Laker bench...keep gathering those players like Magic the Gathering cards...soon we will defeat every team in the league, and the title will be ours again! OURS!!!!! LAKERS, BITCHES!!!!!!!!!!

...but in all seriousness I'd be delighted to have him on the Lakers.
