I think Hollins might be a slightly better fit, just because of the system he used in Memphis with the two bigs. Mark Jackson on the other hand, had the best back court in the NBA (or one of them). That's Detroit's biggest weakness. Either way though it's marginal and I would be perfectly happy with either one.

I'm wondering why Nate McMillan isn't in more of the rumors for the head coaching vacancies. I feel like he would be a good fit in Detroit.

    Yep I agree ^^ b

but would still have Hollins as my #1 option,

Ewing's name will probably be thrown around once again like it has the past 7 or so seasons!

Any chance Loyer gets a chance?...

If we ended up with Hollins, McMillan, or Ewing I would finally be happy with a head coaching hire. I think there's no chance for Loyer to ever be a head coach. He'll be an assistant for life.

The Pistons are going after Stan Van Gundy very aggressively. They would let him coach and make personnel decisions. This could be devastating to our team. I'm not sure why so many teams are so high on this guy. Don't people remember what happened in Orlando?

People are high on him for us because he has a winning coaching record of .641 - better than Pat Riley, and only slightly behind Spolstra (considering he has this super powered heat team).

He also coached Shaq to the conference finals and then in their championship season with the Heat (albeit Riley took over)

And, coached Dwight to the NBA finals...

He obviously knows how to utilize dominate centers... And now here we sit pretty with Drummond as our franchise savior...

I don't mind him as our coach - but not so sure about leading basketball operations, think it could be a conflict of interests - but if all of this results in Smith being traded I am all for it!!! ha...

    Dwight's a whiny douchbag.

SVG got him to the finals with Hedo Turkoglu as the 2nd option.

I'm all for giving total control to him. I don't see too many better options out there.

I hate the idea of giving the job to somebody just because they are part of our franchise history.

Also with the way we've burned through coaches, I really do feel that the next GM needs to run the whole show.

And we all know, especially a few years later, what kind of cancer Dwight is to a basketball franchise...

What a bummer. I guess what I feared is going to really happen..... here's to be stuck in mediocrity for the next decade.....
