As far as Windows 8 goes, if you have a touchscreen there is nothing wrong with it. Once you are in desktop mode it's practically identical to windows 7 anyways.
I don't have a touchscreen nor most people currently using a desktop/notebook setup. Makes no sense to upgrade the os to something that was designed for touch. They ****ed up badly on multi tasking. Can't run modern applications side by side or have multiple windows open on the same display . I skipped Vista upgrade and will be doing the same to 8.

That's what I meant earlier and I'm not even an Apple fan. When it comes to productivity, the surface pro keyboard/touchpad is hideous in comparison and you have to buy it separately for another $130...

MBA 2012 upgraded to 8ram with the SSD is speed demon fast.
Unless you're a movie producer or trying to do some crazy shit with your laptop, the MBA is a do all machine in addition to being exceptionally portable.

That's total BS. You can run metro apps side and side and have multiple windows open at once. Way to try something before jumping to conclusions.
As I said the entire Windows 7 experience remains intact, but whatever you clearly already have your opinion made up.

This is my setup on Windows 7 now. I have my TV tuner and 3 web browser open, all nicely stack on top of each other so I can the most of out my screen estate. Try replicating that with windows 8

No, it's cumbersome and it's nothing like win 7. I tried doing that on my new pc with windows 8, couldn't and upgraded to windows 7 the following day.

Go for it, make sure you stack some part of the windows on top of each other.

I got the interfaced messed up, meant to say you can't do it with the newer one, believed it's called metro. I already have the classic setup with 7, there's no reason for me to go for 8 for the same exact thing.

yea, but everything is optimized and better for windows 8. Why wouldn't you use the better version of 7, Windows 8.
