    So true.

Media companies aren't hurt by gaffes anyway- unless the FCC fines them, which they dont do anymore anyway.

Funny, all this time I thought it was "Kinks in the Armour", as in "The Bulls, who are still working out the kinks on the defensive end", etc.

But yeah, hidden racism is not hidden, in this case.

    ESPN just released a statement:

"We want to apologize if any Chinese-Americans were offended by that inappropriate headline that we used. So let us be the first to say, "Me So Solly!"

ahah listen man, I throw around slurs to my friends regularly. They also have their names for me. It's all fun dude. I'm far from racist, having dated black and hispanic women.

That makes you a racist, sorry to break it to you. You shouldn't even have to use slurs, if you were really their friends to begin with. Especially slurs that usually have a violent history attached to them.

    got me wondering though

one slur....complete word is automatically blanked out on ish

another slur....I swear i've seen written unedited on ish...and most definitely partially blanked...even in THIS thread

as noted before, the first slur is actually primarily used as a real word...second slur existed strictly as a slur...

    what gives?

Why do I get the feeling that the AAJA is negotiating with espn before issuing a statement?

think derb's post is a very poor attempt at humor,at least I hope that's what it is.

race is a topic that many feel uncomfortable discussing in an adult-like manner, so often people try to make jokes to mask the discomfort.

I HOPE that's what derb was doing...... if not..he goes the route of the slot machine worker in Casino

The 'I'm not racist...I have (insert race or ethnicity) friends" has been a joke/punchline for years.

derb, are we laughing WITH you or AT you???

it wasn't humor. I guess it's a testament to our friendship. I've known these people for more than a decade. Like I said, we don't do this outside our circle. Cmon fellas, I'm not a racist and am not some little kid trying to hide some insecure feelings. jeez some people just take life too serious.

Part of me thinks that headline is ****ing hilarious. I mean come on, how can you not laugh if you have a sense of humor?

On the other hand, I think it's ****ing ignorant and it really pisses me off how ESPN isn't getting more shit for that. Had that said "LeBron gets whipped" you know for damn certain every black man in America would be on that shit. Double standards are stupid.
