Being a teacher has its positives, but there's also baggage that comes with it. Oh, and you mentioned a lot of vacation time, but most corporations have a good "Paid Time Off" plan. However, teachers in the summer are not paid! You select either to be paid more for 10 months, or space your salary out over 12 months, but paid a bit less.
The first year of teaching is hard. After that it gets easier and easier though once you've got all your curriculum set up.
