i'm sure stuckey will either let him wear it and switch his own number, or iverson will just offer him some money for the number.
here's another question though: let's say AI plays a few great years with detroit and manages to help them win a championship.. who gets retired as #3 in the D? ben wallace or AI?

Iverson could honestly pass for someone 10 years younger.

Billups has 36 million and three years remaining and he has an additional 14 mill team option for 2011. mcdyess makes 7 mill a year for the next 2 years. for a team that was in cost cutting mode, this makes nosense whatsoever.

Re: Nuggets trade Allen Iverson to Pistons for Chauncey Billups, McDyess
Interesting trade, but it does look like a trade that can benefit both teams. Billups really makes Denver a solid team, and if McDyess isn't bought out, it make Denver a more complete team. If Denver was to move forward with this, I see them making the playoffs with ease, there won't be a last second push to get into the playoffs for them. It also makes Denver a better defensive team and Smith clears up some playing time for himself.
As for Detroit, it is a little blurry how Iverson will get used, but maybe he can reignite the Pistons to becoming a force in the east. I hate that it is going to make them a little weak up front and the fact that they really will have no true PG (Stuckey is nice, but not really a true PG just yet). However, if this trade works out, Detroit will again be fighting for the East Championship and if it doesn't they will start the rebuilding process and luckily for them, they will have two massive contracts coming off the books. Win-win situation for them either way, and this trade might be Dumars way of saying that we are heading towards rebuilding (but not completely sell off on the team), because they will still compete.
Overall, I think it's a solid trade for both teams - and neither team has got much to lose, and it's worth a shot...

That's the best part about it - both teams really have nothing to lose. It's either continue down the paths they were on, which leads to nothing, or make a big trade and risk going farther, and if it doesn't work you don't really lose anything.

How about what Billups will wear? Will JR go back to 23 to give Chauncey 1?

There are a few contenders and wannabee contenders in the East breathing a sigh of relief knowing that Billups isn't playing for Deeetroit anymore.

I was surprised to see JR still wearing #1 because he wanted to switch to 23. He'll probably do that now since Billups wears the 1.
