    Default ISH i need help with my homework...

    Here is the question: The aluminum foil on a certain roll has a total area of 18.5m^2 and a mass of 1275g. Using a density of 2.7g/cc for aluminum, determine the thickness in millimeters of the aluminum foil.

    mass = 1275g
    density = 2.7g/cc
    density = mass/volume
    2.7g/cc = 1275g/volume
    volume = 1275/2.7 = 472.2~cc
    volume = area * thickness
    472.2~ = 18.5m^2 * 10000cm^2/m^2 * thickness
    thickness = 472.22cc/185000cm^2
    thickness = 0.00255cm

    One question: where did you get this part?
    10000cm^2/m^2 * thickness

    Converting the 18.5 m^2 into cubic centimeters.

    Area times thickness. The first part converts the square meters to square centimeters (10,000cm^2 = 1 m^2)

    I can help you, but your son needs to learn from his own.
