Re: Pokemon X and Y Official Thread!
I figured this would be the best place to put this:
I'm thinking of getting a 3DS XL. I haven't owned a Nintendo system since the SNES and haven't really played a handheld since the original Gameboy. This is mostly due to the seemingly good RPGs for it. It seems like you can get tons of hours out of some of these games. Not really a Pokemon fan though. I played the first Red/Blue one and ehhh, it was merely alright for me.
Do you guys used the 3D? Does it actually enhance any games or is it mostly a gimmick that gets annoying after a while?
Any major cons or gripes you have about it? How's the physical build? Battery? Online connectivity, etc?

I use the 3D for cut scenes in games like Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon, I feel it's pretty cool there. But constantly, never. It gives me a headache after 30ish minutes of constant use. But in intervals I love it. It's a great gimmick I guess, because each time I use it I love it, and it does enhance the experience a bit. With that said though, there is a reason the 2DS came out. Some people really don't like 3D. I'd advise you try one out first if you can.
Physically it's pretty rock solid, somewhat hard to damage. But I have heard it scratches easily. I think mine's avoided scratches though. Battery lasts 5 or so hours, which isn't bad. The online connectivity, mine's a bit picky about it. On pokemon it works right for days on end, but then the next it might work if I tinker for 10-15 minutes. Usually a restart works but not always. No real gripes aside from that. Although it works perfectly in Mario Kart 7, so it could be an issue with that specific game.

Basically this.
Online on pokemon is great, some disconnects here and there but most of the time it's good. The 3D is great when the game actually uses it (Super Mario 3D Land uses it perfectly), but it's mainly off when I play to save power and sometimes I get a headache
