He is certainly the most aesthetically pleasing. Physical build, ridiculous athletic ability with the oft used team "emphatic block" and "thunderous "slam but Marc is a truly beautiful player to watch. Tons of skill in a 7+ foot recently slimmed down frame.

Howard at 100% is not clearly the best center in the league IMO. The gap is not as huge as so many in sports coverage claim.

So many sleeping on how great Marc is since he shares his numbers with two other players on an incredible Grizzlies team.
these are some BIG knocks on dwight: pathetic free throw shooting, not a great passer, questionable attitude, questionable intangibles player, no range whatsoever. marc doesn't have that sort of baggage. it's pretty much all positives with him. I guess he's kind of slow defending the pick and roll, but that's all I can think of.

people will recognize this year once the grizzlies do serious damage in the playoffs.

Marc Gasol might be one of my 5 favorite players in the entire league.

But unless Dwight is nowhere near that old Dwight (and there are no real signs of that) then he is -by far and away- the best in the league. There should be no question.

I dunno ... I don't consider him a can't-pass-on guy like lebron or durant, I would understand if a team didn't want his baggage ...

Baggage is one thing. But this guy is a top 5 player in the league. You can argue others and that's fine. But no other center can make a top 5 claim.

If 2nd best center is the question and it's between Noah, Gasol, Lee, & Varejao then it goes probably in that order 2, 3, 4, 5.

Now my opinion is, there are others that may rate as high or higher but those seem to be the common candidates. I watched Lee again last night dude is pretty incredible. I thought he was mis-used by NYK myself

I wouldn't say there's much separation though, not from each other and not from the other top centers.
Not sure exactly how they run this ranking system, formula or whatever, but it's interesting... this is players, not by position.

Anderson Varejao the second best center in the league and he isn't even a true center.

ive been really busy the last week or two with work and college, and have missed the last few cavs games.

is he still playing as well as he was earlier in the season? i saw that his double-double streak came to an end.

Nicola P shut him down, tho it appears nobody can keep him off the boards.

To be fair, K Love also had a big say in that tough D

Best center in the NBA in 2013 = Joakim Noah.

Best center in the NBA in 2009 = Dwight Howard.

Best center/s in the NBA in the 1990s = Hakeem Olajuwon/David Robinson/Patrick Ewing/Shaq/heck even throw in Mutombo.

Noah is pretty darn good these days but this is a weak era for centers.

    Noah went 23 and 21?

    Nice.

However, a this week Al went 23 and 22 with 5 blocks shooting at an amazing %.

Past 7 games? Al Horford has averaged 26 points, 13 rebounds, 2 blocks, shooting at 70%.

Guess by this logic, Horford is the best center and it's not even close.

Even tho he plays centre imo I think a lot of people look at Horford as a PF playing C much like JJ Hickson is. Horford was been on a insane run lately but his defense compared to Noah's sucks @ the C spot. Horfords a top #3 PF imo this season.
