here is an observation of mine---



these bricks are 'woven' together as
much as possible. as pressure
from higher bricks increases,
these lower bricks will tend to
press against each other,
tightening up everything.



long vertical seams in this
arrangement around the
middle-left. as pressure
from above increases, the
bricks in these areas are
going to want to go in
different directions.
