I'm going to go out on a limb and say that when there are 1200 people in Germany with that last name, and when they don't speak Polish or Czech, it's a German name.
Right. And 'Jackson' is an African name.

So an "African" person named Jackson must be a foreigner in Africa?

Nowitzki is a German name. Novicky is a Czech name.

Nowitzki is not a German name because its origin is clearly not German. And....thats pretty much end of story. Thanks for playing though.

So, is Rodriguez not Spanish because Rodrigo is a German name? What about Sanchez?

Furthermore, what about all the English patronymics from clearly Hebrew names? Johnson?
