He won't have the greatest career ever, but his longevity is incredible.

    2001 Playoffs:29.4/7.4/5.6 on 47%

    9 YEARS LATER

    2010 Playoffs: 28.9/6.3/4.7 on 49%

    Pretty crazy

Kobe is playing possibly the best offensive ball I've seen from him in his career this series. He's playing to his limits as a player imo given his current abilities physically. If he keeps up his production, it'll be the best series of his career by a good margin from a statistical standpoint.

That said, this thread is a joke.

The 2-3 the Suns are playing is basically goading Kobe to shoot midrange jumpshots.

He has been setting up on Nash's side of the zone and shooting.

As so often with Kobe, this individual greatness is coming at the expense of the team.

If I were the Suns I 'd hope Kobe has the series of a lifetime, this keeps the ball out of the bigs hands and gives Phoenix a shot.

Youre not watching the games eh? Kobe is dropping dimes like a damn point guard out there dude. He is literally the sole reason the Lakers arent getting blown out in these games.

His teammates simply are not showing up in certain instances.

no, I am watching the games, eh... and he has the ball in his hands every possession.

THAT IS NOT HOW YOU BEAT A ZONE.

The ten dimes are fodder for Kobe groupies to think he is involving his teammates. He will get ten dimes when he has the ball that long and the shot clock winds down and someone is forced to shoot. Some of those will go in.

Kobe is playing very well, I cannot dispute that.

    BUT

If they want to beat this zone to a pulp (and they can), they need to swing the ball and go inside out.

    ball movement is the key.

If KOBE wants to go off, he should continue to dribble into Nash, pull up or pitch (like he has been doing).

Yeah, Kobe is getting a lot of good looks due to the lack of matchup he'd see in a man-to-man. He's getting open and semi-open looks, but more than that, he's putting himself in positions where defenders are out of position to contest or get back in the play and attacking that way. He's definitely doing damage against Nash in particular.

As good a series as Kobe is having, his team is at 2-2 and he IS playing the Suns. Playing the Suns = more points scored by the teams = offensive statistics inflated.
