Arrow OTC Free Agency Discussion Thread

Isn't Free Agency in ALL SPORTS something else? (that was my one sentence excuse to keep this in the OTC).

this is just a copy+paste list, but I thought it might be fun to discuss where we think people might end up, who you'd like to join your team, who you pray stays away, etc.

I don't think the Lakers are going to get any major pieces but a bench re-tooling is in order. Some names that jump out at me are Steve Blake, Luke Ridnour, Jamaal Tinsley, Travis Diener, Mike Miller, Hak Warrick, Chris Wilcox, Bobby Simmons...

I really want to see Hak Warrick back on the Grizzlies. If he came back, I would die of happiness. If we can't resign Rudy, then really want the FO to make a run at Hak. He can provide that scoring punch off the bench we need.

Let's say we don't resign Rudy and sign Hak, the team would look al little like this...

    PG: Conley / Vasquez
    SG: Mayo / Young
    C: Gasol / Thabeet / Arthur
    PF: Randolph / Hak
SF: Brewer / Henry / Carroll

Looks pretty decent to me and I'd be happy. Although, I do hope we resign Rudy.

just something a little more servicable than Josh+DJ would work. Would love to see Hak Warrick or Chris Wilcox be that 4th big. PG goes w/o saying. Blake would be amazing.

yeah, as of midnight the Heat have Mario Chalmers and Michael Beasley and nobody else. Pretty ridiculous. They say that if they somehow manage to get LBJ, Wade, and Bosh that they'll have to sign NINE players at the league minimum. I don't really follow the numbers close enough to verify that but it's a pretty crazy undertaking. Not a bad gig though, league minimum still a nice chunk of change and you get to play on a "contender" without any personal accountability :)

Memphis didn't give Ronnie Brewer a qualifying offer. This is the same guy they gave a first round pick for at the deadline and played his usual very good defense and selfless offense.

The Grizzlies management is just stupid. It's like setting a mid first round draft pick on fire.

I think there's a lot of interest in him here, just can't happen financially. What was it he turned down last offseason, over $6 mil a year right?

Indy's only got a couple million to spend, and with the Ty Thomas qualifying offer Charlotte's too close to the tax themselves to pursue any kind of sign and trade. So it's looking like a Jordan Farmar signing, someone like that.

Yeah it was a little over 6 mil. His value went down after he got blown out by Nelson in the playoffs. I'd love for the Bobcats to keep him but I don't want them overpaying. The problem is DJ Augustin is not a starting PG at the moment so we'd have to do some scrambling.

I heard on the radio this morning that Felton's agent got calls from 6 teams within hours of free agency beginning.
