Re: Combat Sports Draft
And I like the Diaz pick, but GSP would wreck him. Diaz has always, and will always have trouble with good wrestlers.

Roger's accomplishments >> Aoki's

Rogers pure grappling accomplishments > Aoki
Aoki's MMA grappling accomplishments > Roger
And Aoki has way more fans and is far more marketable.
I also almost picked Jacare... but he isn't marketable at this point.

Aoki isn't that marketable, either. The Japanese fans haven't seemed to take to him that much. Do you think the casual American would take to him that well, either? The buttscoots, the femininity, the crying, the dryhumping, the rainbow pants (wait, he can't use them over here), etc...? Plus, he didn't have a very good debut over here. Drunken fans don't wanna see a guy cry like a baby after a fight.
Something like that might endear him to drunken fans, though.
Roger could become marketable if he focuses solely on his MMA career. I didn't pick him for his marketability, though.

Mirko never beat Nog, got arm-barred in the one fight they had.

Alright, I'm going the RBA route with this pick and taking someone who isn't one of the all-time greats (though, he has the potential to be), but is one of my favorites. He's been the most dominant HW over the past couple years. He's the man that Fedor is scared of:
UBEREEM
MMA record: 33-11
Kickboxing record: 7-4
When Alistair Overeem hits fighters, they feel it in their bones. When he throws them, they fly like paperweights. In other words, this Dutch fighter/kickboxer is about as explosively athletic as they come. Not to mention, he's one of the few athletes that's proven capable of maintaining successful MMA and kickboxing careers at the same time.
Overeem is a Dutch kickboxer and Muay Thai specialist. In other words, he likes to stand up and trade strikes with opponents. Along with this, he is technically very good on his feet, offers a diverse stand up game, and hits like a truck with both his legs and hands. What's more, he possesses underrated takedowns and takedown defense.
Perhaps Overeem's greatest strength, however, is his explosive strength and athleticism. He literally overpowers opponents.
From a submissions perspective, Overeem is known for a very strong guillotine choke.
vs. Vovchanchyn
vs. Kharitonov
vs. Cro Cop
vs. Rogers
vs. Badr Hari

Dasher, why did you take Frank Shamrock over El Guapo?

Personal preference. The Shamrocks were what initially piqued my interest in MMA.

Re: Combat Sports Draft
Dasher F. Ruiz Promotions would make the most money. Fedor vs. Brock would smash boxoffice records and be held outdoors in The Los Angeles Coliseum. The buyrate would be off the charts.
The undercard would feature a matchup between The Shamrock Bros.
Later in the year I would take over Argentina by matching Calos Monzon and Sergio Gabriel Martinez.

You should have drafted Kimbo if you wanted numbers. Fedor hasn't been a proven PPV draw in America.

My first promotion is going to be Roberto Duran vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr.
A classic brawler against a classic technician. Presentation of the fight to come after indulging in Turkey Day feast.
