Are you going to do Jazz trumpet or like a solo concerto type trumpet?

Either way good luck. Trumpet is a good instrument, I first played trumpet but eventually found my was to Euphonium, it's like a gateway instrument.

My instructor is making sure that I am comfortable in both classical trumpet, and jazz trumpet.

I see you went with Lee Morgan. Nice choice.

so i guess... the buttons move you in to different octaves? and your own voice and breath create the individual tones...?

Get a mute for your trumpet and play end of the solo in Shine On You Crazy Diamond Part IX. In fact, I'm about to transcribe that shit on my geetar now... It turns out it's all on the D-major scale except for one note. Anyway, it's a simple tune, but it will sound excellent if you play it with sooooul like many other PF tunes.
