You can be a better all around player, but that doesn't mean that you are the best player. Like Pippen is probably the best all around player of all time, but Bird is the better player.

Like Shaq. Shaq was the best player because nobody could stop him. But you can't ask him to dribble the ball or pass like a point guard. His job is to post up, and give the team nightmares. And the Lakers did not take Shaq out during clutch time. They kept him in. There's no way a guy averaging 28 ppg and 57% isn't going to be in there.

Shaq needed a star wing to close games & series for him in order to win championships and KB never did. People still argue that it's easier to build around Shaq but the truth is that he needed more perimeter shooting and elite playmaking than a player like KB ever did. Wilt put up the most dominant numbers ever but only won twice because of those same limitations & he was a better defender for his time as well.
