Are you really moving to Arkansas from California? That's gonna suck. Not much to do here. Northwest Arkansas is a really nice area but there's nothing there to compare to a true big city. Fayetteville is a really good college town though.
Only reason I'm a big UNC fan is because I've got family from there and my dad is from there. On top of that, I'm 24 and Arkansas has been irrelevant for the last 15 years. I know this makes me sound like a fair-weather fan but ever since I was 9 years old basketball season has just been a way to kill time until spring football. It's almost like the culture around here pertaining to basketball was just "whatever". There's still some carry over die-hard fans from the Nolan Richardson days but I'm barely old enough to remember the 1994 National Championship team. With Mike Anderson being back, though, basketball is starting to gain more steam. I still think they're the sleeping-giant of SEC basketball. And even if he does get Arkansas back to where they were under Nolan Richardson (which I think he can) I'm not going to all of a sudden jump onto the bandwagon. I've gotten way too emotionally invested in UNC basketball for the last decade to just quit being a fan.

Will be my girls first game too (6 months) when the Bruins come to Tucson in January. Indiana State is a nice opener and both @ Texas/vs Mizzou will be tough but the rest of the schedule seems to be open for the Bruins to really put together a nice win streak or two.

Good videos on the China trip.
For those who couldn't see the full video here's what UCLA coach Ben Howland said regarding Josh Smith.
To put it in context, Howland was asked how Josh Smith has been coming along and said Smith has had a couple good practices. Howland then was asked if Smith has continued to get in better shape. Howland responded with the following:
"I think he's got a long way to go where we want him to ideally be. We're less than two months from opening up our regular practice so there's a lot of work to be done between now and then. But I think this trip will be good and a barometer to where he is in his conditioning and where he needs to be because he's going to play a lot."
We caught a glimpse of practice after Howland's press conference. I saw Smith but I can't tell whether he's lost any weight just based on the fact I've never covered this team. I asked a seasoned beat writer and he thought Smith actually put on some weight since the last time he saw Smith.

Alright, good. I hope he doesn't miss any time obviously, but if worst case scenario is 9 non-conference games, so be it. Thanks.

Can Powell play pg? The overall talent level of the team will be so much higher if he can- I have a feeling that drew will get plenty of a chance but hope Powell gets his shot also
Who starts out of lamb, shabazz, and Anderson?

Ben Howland said he's going to play Drew and Anderson in the back court together. I'm not sure if he plans on starting them together, but he said having two PG's on the court at once is part of their gameplan.
