Default How did Smashing Pumpkins become so underrated?

I don't understand why bands such as Nirvana are still immortalized while even better bands like the Pumpkins are forgotten. Top 5 drummer of all time. Billy Corgan is often considered a top 10 rock guitarist all time, had one of the most unique voices ever and was a brilliant lyricist. KILLER bassists too.

Basically a nearly flawless band. Not only that but Smashing Pumpkins has tons of deep, legit songs. I have the greatest hits and I feel like it doesn't even include 10+ songs that deserve to be on there. It should be a double CD because that's how many good songs Corgan wrote.

Thoughts on Smashing Pumpkins? Why aren't they more popular even now?

What's next? Billy Corgan's "poetry" book is underrated too?

I still laugh at that shit, that shit was awful.

They are/were a great band. Thing is, they are an acquired taste; their music isn't catchy.

And they are not better than Nirvana.

there's like 60+ years of top musicians in rock and you're saying that smashing pumpkins had two of the best ones of all time? yea, i don't think so.

and smashing pumpkins is a nice band, but the idea that they're underrated is ridiculous. they were HUGE back in their heyday... not too many years ago.

I guess people decided that pumpkins had other uses besides being smashed. Like being eaten or carved into lamps.

Is good as this song is, there really isn't another SP song that is memorable to me. Thru The Eyes of Ruby was good, but this band is pretty forgettable to me.

Despite 1979 being one of my favorite songs of the 90's.
    It's not on this level...

And that's probably not one of the ten best songs from Nirvana, I just tried to make Smashing look respectable here.

I agree that SP is underrated.

Comparing SP to Nirvana is kinda hard, but truth be told, while Nirvana was great their lasting power has more to due with the fact that they were breaking ground and changing our thoughts about music and of course a tragic death.

    SP>Nirvana
