Re: Does Kobe have the lowest FG% in finals ever for a star player??
Moses: .442%
Curry: .423%
Dirk: .404%
Granted, they only have 2 Finals each compared to Kobe's 7

for a player who being at the best in his position, and not necessarily that much better than other best player at their position, can't even say this is a knock on him
as for 2 FMVP?
if his lost production has to come from somewhere else, how are his teammates out-playing players that are better than them at their position?
numbers never lie?
then what exactly do numbers mean in a losing effort?
coaches have to look at their stats just as media members do
unfortunately there aren't FMVC

Re: Does Kobe have the lowest FG% in finals ever for a star player??
Main reason he falls in love with his jumper.
Settled for it way too much. Isn't built with strong broad shoulders ala MJ, Wade and LeBron to take the punishment of more physical Eastern Conference style of defense by attacking the basket consistently.
Other reasons ...
Strong concerns over legacy. Got maybe too hyped for the Finals. Pressuring himself too much to perform at an all time level to cement himself as one of the greats. None more evident than game 7 vs Boston. Some shot selections were just wow, that was dumb.
That and he might not have the blessed motor to go perform at his normal level the way anomalies like MJ, Wade, and LeBron have deep into June.
That jarring finesse basketball of the West to the gritty East coast ball obviously does something to him. Same way in an even more dramatic fashion that it does to Curry.
Finer tuned context reasons.
2000 - Severely sprained ankle
2001 - Aaron Mckie defense. Spent energy guarding Iverson.
2002 - Good Finals
2004 - Selfish play. Tayshaun Prince long arms affected jumpers.
2008 - All Time great team defense. Gasol no show.
2009 - Very Good Finals.
2010 - All Time great team defense. Too hyped.
