Which 70's Rock Band Do You Like Most? Chicago, Boston or Kansas?
I was randomly listening to some of my 70's mixes and I thought of 3 bands that have similarities in style and all happen to be named after American cities/states.
Which band do you like most? I'll put the most popular song of each band.
Kansas:

Chicago:

Boston:

I'm going to say in my opinion Boston is the best band but Kansas' "Dust In The Wind" is the best song of the 3 bands.

I was just picking the song I felt the average joe would know most (popular), not necessarily best.

Boston is one of my least favorite musical acts ever. Listening to them may force you to kill yourself.
Chicago actually has a lot of great music and has been influential to countless alt. rock bands (e.g. Sloan). They have a very unique sound, and if you removed the extreme cheese they put out in the 80s (along with Peter Cetera's horrid solo efforts from that era) they may well be one of the great American rock bands (the only American band to have sold more records is the Beach Boys) in both terms of success and critical acclaim.
The OP chose the worst possible song from Chicago and one not indicative of their classic sound. To understand Chicago you need to sample 70s tracks that combine horns with rock and roll, NOT the eighties abortions that Peter Cetera pushed forth (which ultimately led to him leaving the band).
Great Chicago songs:
these first two rock out and are loved by jam band fans:

these ones bring the horns and add a bit more soul:

Kansas, they are mostly meh, a few catchy tunes very befitting of the era they came out of. Had America not been in such denial of New Wave and electronic music for so long Kansas would likely be an anachronism and forced to exit the limelight early with a couple of hits (Wayward Son and Dust in the Wind).
This question is really no contest, the only answer is Chicago.

Not into one of the greatest rock singers of all-time? R.I.P. Or is it the duel-harmony guitar solos?

A lot of people love them, my brother included. I just find them to be another rock band that sings really depressing lyrics in an 'anthemic' manner.
Not my cup of tea.

Haha to each his own brother. I have no reason to argue and admired your lengthy opinion on Dave Matthews Band in my thread
I guess how you feel is how I've always felt about Aerosmith. I can get that.

Boston was barely a band. Tom Sholz was a mechanical engineer and early computer whiz who used the synthesizer and studio tricks to develop that sound. They were virtually incapable of duplicating the sound live.
Kansas is pretty disposable.
Chicago, at least while Terry Kath was still alive, was a tight musical group and produced some enduring sounds. Easily the best band of the three. Not that that's saying a whole lot.
