Who the **** thinks the Lakers will win and repeat? Kobe got 2 more years left before his body gives out. You might as well be making the case that if LeBron quadpeats he won't be better than Jordan. Equally difficult scenarios.

I'm not. I'm just saying having 7 rings doesn't make you better than someone with 6. It's not that simple.

My problem with the whole Kobe vs Jordan debate is that Kobe supporters simply uses rings as the one single reason why he should be on Jordan's level.

And when Kobe detractors state that Kobe was a #2 man for three of his rings Kobe fans always say, Kobe played like a #1 option against the Blazers and Kings. Kobe carried a bunch of scrubs into the playoffs in 2006 and 07. Bleh, bleh bleh..., you name it. They will go in detail how of great Kobe is.

They won't do the same for Jordan. He can't win without Pippen. He got swept by the Celtics and embarrassed by the Pistons.

Basically, all they do is boost Kobe's legacy bigger than it actually was based on rings. While never crediting Jordan more in depth about his legacy.

Again, I agree with your premise, but look at 08. KG had the biggest impact throughout the season and playoffs in that title run. But, a strong Finals performace later and Pierce is hoisting the FMVP trophy.

Therefore, their views mean nothing if they won't equally go in-depth and in detail for both players.

The thread that stated he had a shot at GOAT was started by a Heat fan...

That's why I asked about Horry and Russell. If you rank players only by their number of rings than every Celtic in the 60s and Horry should be higher than Kobe and MJ.

It doesn't work that way. You also have to factor in MVP and Finals MVP plus the number of all-star games, gold medals, DPOY, and so on.

So therefore, Kobe with 7 rings is not better than MJ with 6.

It does if ur the top 1-2 reasons why you won it in the 1st place.

Yes if he wins Finals MVPs then 7 rings and 4 FMVPs you can make a case for top 3 status. I still don't see him better than MJ though.

Only idiots who can't think for themselves look at that shit. Purists watch the game and judge accordingly. There shouldn't be a Finals MVP requirement. People wouldn't look at Jordan differently had he played with Shaq and they happened to face a depleted opposition who had no centers on their roster. What ultimately matters is how they impacted games, if they showed up during the playoffs, and if they did everything in their power to win. If they did that then they probably won titles, possibly multiple ones.
