Who Is the Player From the 90s Thats Gets the Most Overrated Now
We know how this board loves to overrated every player associated with 90s basketall. Which player's repuataton gets the most overrated because of the "90s factor"? Im going with Penny Hardaway.

Penny was mad sick when he was healthy bro. I think there are MUCH better choices for this thread, such as Shawn Kemp or Alonzo Mourning

He's one of those players that you can build a team around, if you want, but he's also such a complimentary piece to any team that you wonder if he might be best utilized as a second option.

I agree with John Stockton and would add Karl Malone to the discussion as well. If Stockton was an NFL quarterback he'd be known as an efficient game manager. He was a good player who played a long time (like Malone) but he was definitely flawed. He couldn't put his team on his back (like a truly elite point guard can) and win if the team needed him to. Magic Johnson could do this. Isiah Thomas could do this. Stockton could not and that is why when the going got tough for the Jazz they couldn't win the ultimate prize. A truly elite pg should have the skills to provide whatever his team needs. If a teammate is hot he should be getting them the ball in the best position to score (which Stockton could do). However, if the team is in a funk then an elite pg should be able to call his own number to get his team going and even win the game if needed. Stockton could not do this.
Malone is just as overrated in my opinion. He was a good power forward but his lack of versatility hurt him and his team in the clutch. He couldn't dribble the ball well enough to initiate his own offense on a consistent basis and had to rely on his teammates to get him the ball so he could score. Opposing teams were able to exploit this hole in his game and use it to defeat the Jazz year after year. He also came up small in the clutch time and time again.
Stockton and Malone were a good tandem (and technically I consider them to be 80's players) who definitely get overrated up here. Their combined shortcomings are why the Jazz never won a championship. They had solid role players around them, definitely enough talent to win. Stockton and Malone didn't lose because their teams weren't good enough, they lost because THEY weren't good enough.

Reggie Miller or Charles Barkley.
On ISH, it's Barkley. On other sites, it's Miller. Miller gets underrated on this site to be honest.

Jordan comes to mind. People have him as some untouchable Greek God or something in their minds.
