had a convo with a white guy who is relatively racist today at work.

If a person were to say that they would never date a certain race even though that person has every quality and trait that the person would want in their partner. The only thing different is race.

Ex - If a girl were asked out by a guy of a different race......lets just say black and even though the guy has every trait the girl would want in her boyfriend, the girl turns him down simply because he is black.

would you consider this person to be racist or not?

My friend compared it to homophobia. He stated that just because a guy who is cool and is a good friend asks you out on a date or to be boyfriend and you turn him down that it is the same thing.

I think that comparison is stupid but you guys tell me.

Oh lol. Well not necessarily racist but definitely socially insecure. I've had girls that there was a strong mutual interest with who won't date a black person simply because their family/friends wouldn't approve of it.

My one friend, we'd hang out, go out to eat, get physical, text all day, talk on lunch breaks, call each other after work every day...but she always said she couldn't make it into an actual relationship because her parents said they'd throw her out of the house if she dated a black guy.

So no it doesn't ALWAYS mean THAT person is racist (tho more times than not that is the case), but it could just mean the people in their lives are and they're not secure enough to take on that conflict/stand up for themselves

I was turn down by a black girl just because I was white

When you to Puerto Rico you don't see that racial tension I felt when I was living in the states. Over here you can make fun of a white guy or a black guy and nothing will happen, and nobody will care and everybody would laugh at the stupid jokes. But one time I said one stupid joke and my friend, the one I was hotting one, got all 'guetto' crazy on me. She's from Compton and lived in Louisiana when she was a kid if that helps.

white guys can't stand it when a white girl is dating a black guy. black girls can't stand it when other black girls date white guys.

it seems like most other races are pretty neutral and are careless about it.
