The new XBox (dubbed XBox One) seemed to limit gaming freedom and privacy. Features included:



Basically, the xBox One will provide inability to share games (except under very specific and perhaps costly circumstances), forced camera connection, gaming portion of console locked if disconnected from internet for longer than 24 hours, forced download of game onto XBox so as to link the "rights" of the game to you and only you, no support for independent gaming developers, no renting, and a $500 price tag.

Last night, Playstation revealed their Playstation 4 and proudly presented a console with free reign as so many folks desire (renting, trading, borrowing, no internet requirement for offline, etc.). To top things off, they're coming in 100 dollars cheaper, with a $399 price tag. If it were a rap battle, PS4 would have dropped the mic.

I'm still going to wait and see. I don't do a lot of game sharing anyway. I used to do a lot of buying of used games, but Xbox became good at putting out great deals of their own anyway, so if I can get games cheap eventually, I don't mind. I likely won't buy the a new system until they have been out for 6 months to a year anyway, so I have time to figure out which system I want. Also, I use Xbox for much more than games already anyway, so I'm liking the idea that they are making it an all-in-one entertainment system.

I'm also not worried about the connecting to the internet thing either. I generally am always connected to the internet anyway.

Man I'm actually mad about this and I don't even play that many video games.

Pretty much all the games I buy are from Game Stop and I get them dirt cheap a few months after they come out. Then I sell those back and get some new ones. I also rent them from Redbox for $2 a day.

I'm not trying to pay $60 every time I want to try a video game. That combined with $100 cheaper price means I'm probably going to buy a Play station.
