next time I yell out role player,
I want Duncan to be the first person raising his hand, and get over by the coaches for instruction.

Here's the career RAPM numbers('97 to '14) for players in post-Jordan era that have played more than 70,000 possessions:
+5.63 - Lebron
+5.09 - Duncan
+5.08 - Shaq
+4.75 - Garnett
+4.22 - Dirk
+3.36 - Rasheed
+2.96 - Kobe
+2.77 - Nash
+2.65 - Carter
+2.58 - Kidd
+2.37 - Pierce
+2.15 - Parker
+2.07 - Ben Wallace
+1.76 - Pau Gasol
+1.76 - Ray Allen
+1.15 - Joe Johnson
+1.04 - Marion
+0.95 - Billups
+0.94 - Iverson
Makes sense that Lebron/Duncan/Shaq are at the top of the list. From 1999 to 2007, a Duncan/Shaq led team won the title 7 times in 9 years. Lebron has been dominating the NBA awards the past couple years. Four straight Finals and two back-to-back titles.
Shaq won MVP and Finals MVP in the same year in 2000
Duncan won MVP and Finals MVP in the same year in 2003
Lebron won MVP and Finals MVP in the same year in 2012 and 2013.
Kobe has never done this.
The early 2000s was the Shaq/Duncan era. It's currently the Lebron era. There never was a Kobe Bryant era.

yeah, for a while there, the spurs, kg, shaq, kobe and dirk all dominated the league. tim duncan knew the spurs would regress eventually, and he and bron would meet again in the finals.

Nope, not that. Your inability to list Duncan with those guys...instead you write "the Spurs."
What, Duncan winning 3 Finals MVPs and 2 MVPs in a six year span isn't dominant enough to be mentioned next to Kobe or KG?

Bryant shouldn't even be listed next to Duncan or KG. SidekickBe's not even a top-5 player in the post-Jordan era.

well duncan had the best help of all those guys. the best coach too. it wouldnt be fair to compare their individual brilliance to the spurs' system and TEAM success.

So you list out Shaq and Kobe... Rather than simply listing out the Lakers
Even though they had... Shaq and Kobe...and The triangle offense..and Phil Jackson.
But you're not biased

shaq/bean never had the luxury of playing with multiple HOFers in their prime/contributing.
duncan played with drob (HOF talent)...and parker/manu (prime/HOF talent)

If you're saying their both Goat candidates, then doesn't playing with each other along with Phil Jackson, negate your argument.

I hate Duncan as much as anyone, but even I know he had way less help than Shaq and Kobe, who not only had the luxury of playing with other, but also the best coach in NBA history and GOAT role players.
